It is a nutritive herb and is high in calcium which is good for women as we are more prone to osteoporosis as we age. It is also high in Magnesium which is a necessary mineral for nourishing nerves and muscles while your body converts food to energy. Raspberry Leaf contains Potassium and Iron. in fact, the Iron in Raspberry leaf helps fortify the blood and helps deliver oxygen all around the body. It has Vitamin A which boosts immune response and reproductive health and Vitamin C which fights infection and helps our connective tissues remain strong and healthy.
Lemon Balm, in regards to women's health, helps alleviate cramps and PMS but it also helps relieve stress and anxiety. Because it is a nervine herb, it not only calms, it can help boost mood and cognition. Lemon Balm can also aid digestion and digestive system ailments including upset stomach, cramps, and gastric ulcers. It contains both Vitamin C and Thiamin (a B vitamin)
Lady's Mantle is a woman's best friend. This herb can help alleviate menstrual pain, lessen breast tenderness, and it regulates menstrual flow. It strengthens uterine muscles, and It may help relieve menopausal symptoms and night sweats. It is a wonderful aid for digestive issues like stomach aches and cramps from indigestion. Its calming properties reduce irritability, binge eating, and, if consumed regularly, increases our personal sense of well being.
Nettles, or Stinging Nettles, is a great all over tonic and an Herbalist favorite! It supports kidneys, the digestive system, and the circulatory system. Nettles are a great source of vitamins that are important for healthy menstruation like Iron, magnesium, and calcium. This herb is almost like a multivitamin. in addition to the previous minerals, its also high in Vitamins A, C, E, B1, B2, B3, B5, folate, potassium, phosphorous, selenium, and zinc. Nettles can also help combat hay fever since it has antihistamine properties.
Alfalfa, which is one of my favorite herbs when I'm feeling tired or run down, helps boost strength and endurance. Alfalfa has considerable nutritional value due to the presence of vitamins A, C, D and K, high levels of chlorophyll and minerals, such as calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus and potassium. It is also loaded with essential amino acids, protein, and fiber! It helps to boost your immune system, reduces inflammation, and helps detoxify the body.
Spearmint, when consumed regularly, can be very helpful in regulating hormonal imbalance in women. It has proven effective in helping symptoms of PCOS.(Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) Its anti androgen properties can help balance high levels of testosterone and reduce facial hair in women. Spearmint is also a great ally for reducing stress and it may help improve memory.
Ginger is high in antioxidants. The more antioxidants we include in our diets, the healthier we look and feel. Since antioxidants help maintain collagen production, we can also have younger looking skin. Ginger is also wonderful for reducing inflammation, relieving pain (and menstrual cramps), aiding digestion, and boosting immunity.
Cinnamon is high in antioxidants as well. It also helps boost immunity, reduces PMS symptoms, alleviates cramps, reduces blood sugar, and helps improve heart health. Its antiviral, antibacterial and antifungal properties help reduce the chances of developing various health hazards like respiratory disorders. Cinnamon may also help ease PCOS and its anti inflammatory properties help reduce pain.
